The night of my millionth death

I break each night
Into a thousand pieces
Shattered in the darkness without you
I wither under the dark skies
I die each night
Unaware of the shores so dear
I break each night
Away from light
Watching the roads that go home
Those silent roads
Hoping to hear a word
From those glorious roads that would take me home
And in that hope
I break again and again
And tonight
I’ll break for the millionth time
I’ll stare in the dark empty skies yet again
Yet another brutal night
Tonight
I’ll break yet again
Bruised and withered and battered,
Tonight I’ll die yet again
Away from where my home is
Tonight I’ll die yet again
And then
When the Sun kisses me tomorrow
I’ll be up again
I’ll pick up all broken parts
I’ll be born again tomorrow
And I’ll look for you yet again
And i know,
At that moment I’ll die yet again
But I’ll live a thousand splendid deaths
That one day I’ll be finally home.”

There’s so much longing in this poem. I tried to imagine the narrator as a person but then I imagined him/her as the world or a place. Thank you for sharing.
